We don’t typically think of pain as energy.

But that’s exactly what it is.

It’s an energetic interaction between your body and your brain.

That’s important to understand because it means we have more control over our experience of pain than we think!  We’ve just been approaching it the wrong way... Some of you may have heard that “pain is in the brain”.

Meaning, pain is a manifestation of the mind.

That’s a tough pill to swallow though - it’s not like we’re making it up.

And besides, it feels like pain happens TO us:

We get injured -> we feel pain.

I hurt my knee -> my knee hurts.

Cause -> effect.

But it’s not as simple as that.

Pain actually IS created in the brain.

Here’s how it works:

When we get hurt, nerves in and around the injury start firing electrical signals to the brain.

Thats not the part that hurts.

We don’t actually “feel” the pain until the brain has received AND interpreted the electrical impulses. (That’s the slight delay in pain sensation)

The brain first has to decide:

IF it hurts

How much it hurts.

And then you’ll feel it.

Over time, the brain’s interpretation of the pain will become more complex.

Past experiences and current beliefs will play a major role in HOW we interpret, and ultimately experience, the pain signals.

For example, the experience of being in pain and afraid is a lot more intense and distressing than the experience of being in pain and hopeful.

It’s the interpretation that matters most - and that’s an energetic process.

Once the pain signal reaches the brain, it gets filtered through our thoughts and beliefs.  This TUNES the energy to a specific frequency.  Then the brain sends the signal back to the site of injury.

This is how your cells know what’s going on.

The frequency of the signal IS the message from the brain.

Fear, hope, illness, wellness, anxiety, calm... all have specific vibrations that will illicit a different reaction from the body.

And this very much affects your recovery!

That’s it for today, but remember, your power is not in avoiding injury all together! Your only power (and it’s enough) lies in your vibration.

Always with love, co
